Dove si trova
Sycamore maple is a deciduous tree with a round, spreading crown, characterised by rapid growth. The leaves are ovate, 5-lobed, dark green in colour and 10-20cm long. The green-yellow flowers are gathered in pendulous panicles, followed by samaras which can be green or red. This species is widespread from the Pyrenees to the Caucasus, present in fresh mountain forests with beech, white fir and spruce. The wood is valuable, ivory white with brown veins, used for furniture, floors, musical instruments and as an excellent fuel.
Deciduous, round, spreading, fast-growing tree that produces ovate, 5-lobed, dark green leaves, 10-20cm long. The green-yellow flowers are collected in pendulous panicles, up to 12cm long, followed by green, sometimes red, samaras.
The very large range of this species extends from the Pyrenees to the Caucasus, throughout central-southern Europe. The sycamore maple lives, not too frequently, in mountain areas, in fresh beech, white fir and spruce forests, where it is of considerable silvicultural interest. The wood, ivory white with brown veins, is valuable because it is compact, homogeneous and medium heavy. It is used for furniture, floors, tool handles, musical instruments, and is an excellent fuel.
